I’m studying something I don’t love

Eva, I’m in my third year of a program I chose because “it had job prospects.” Every subject feels like a mountain.

If I quit, I’ll disappoint my parents. If I keep going, I feel like I’m wasting my years.

Hi. It’s heavy to carry a decision you never felt was truly yours. And you don’t need to decide today.

“Between ‘I’m quitting’ and ‘I keep going like this’ there are many paths.”

Write down exactly what’s weighing on you: the subject itself, the way it’s taught, or the pressure? Talk to the career office or the counseling service at your school. See if there’s a specialization or a master’s that brings you closer to something you love.

And when you talk to your parents, start from how you feel, not from the decision. Parents often fear uncertainty more than change.
With warmth, Eva
